Saw someone post this over in the Rock Paper Shotgun comments, funny stuff.
Knytt Stories Soundtrack
Knytt Stories: A Strange Dream
TRACK – TRACK
Knytt Stories: The Machine
TRACK – TRACK
Took some footage of my computer this afternoon to share with a few people and I needed some good background music for the video. Went to iTunes to see what I had and ran into the soundtrack for Knytt Stories. I had forgotten how wonderful the music for this game was. It’s very ambient and relaxing, see for yourself with a free download here. The game is also available for free and I’d highly recommend playing both The Machine (the main game) and the A Strange Dream expansion. Think I may have to play this game again now that I have remembered it, I haven’t checked it out since a few years ago at least. If you are interested, see the gameplay video posted after the jump! Madvillain Painting
Bought this from eBay a few days ago for around $5 shipped. Pretty cool painting.

A-1 – All That!
Just got done spinning some tunes at the Shaolin Temple, this song was easily the highlight of the night. Haven’t seen such a crowded room go nuts over a song like when this played in quite some time. I’ve heard some stuff from A-1, but don’t remember listening to this one before. Good tune, brings back a lot of awesome memories of when TV didn’t suck ass.
Danny Brown – Radio Song
Here’s the brand new video for Radio Song. XXX is easily my favorite hip hop album that was released last year (and tied with James Pants for my favorite album all together in 2011). VERY happy to see that there will be a vinyl release that is coming next month, already have my pre-order for the deluxe white version that comes with a bonus 45. I’ve been wanting to write about this album for awhile now, I should be posting my thoughts about it here relatively soon.
Aquatic Son – Pacific Dreams EP
I’m not usually crazy about the idea of folks remixing Dilla produced tracks, though there are certainly some cases where they do turn out nicely. I went ahead and clicked on this video while listening to some stuff off Fantastic Volume 2 on Youtube because I was curious about how someone could remix what I consider the strongest production on the album. Very happy I did as this is one of those occasions where the remix does the original song justice in my opinion (Wouldn’t say the remix is better, but it is great in it’s own way).
I have never heard of the guy before, but this is part of an EP that he’s made available for free on his Bandcamp page. Be sure to check it out, his remixes of Common’s I Used to Love H.E.R. and Nas’ Made You Look are also nice.
Blu & Exile – Below The Heavens
Not sure how often I will be writing about albums so soon after listening to them for the first time, but I really feel like writing something about Below The Heavens tonight. I can’t believe I hadn’t checked this one out sooner, this is one of the better hip hop albums I have heard in quite some time. Before listening to this collaborative effort I really hadn’t heard much by Blu or Exile, but I will be keeping an eye out for what they are working on from now on. Continue reading
Back on Discogs!
Click above to check out my Discogs collection!
Discogs is an excellent resource for folks who collect records, CDs, or just about any other format of music. I first started using the site a few years ago when I was beginning to collect vinyl myself and I’ve continued to use it since then to check out releases from artists I’m just finding out about. It’s been awhile since I’ve used it for anything other than keeping track of records in my wantlist and purchasing stuff through sellers though, my collection page was incredibly out of date until just updating it a few minutes ago (Doing inventory the other night helped!).
I plan on keeping my collection up to date over at Discogs from now on since I really like the way I can link folks to my collection, so they can visually see the records I have and whatnot. I’m also going to start contributing releases again, which I actually started doing tonight. I had done this a bit a few years ago when I was using the site a lot, but I’ve been slacking as you can see!
Anyway, feel free to check out any of my pages below!

Blu & Exile – So(ul) Amazin’
Below The Heavens showed up in the mail earlier today after ordering it from Fat Beats last week. Fat Beats was saying on their Facebook that they only had about 30 copies of the limited blue version left and as I’ve mentioned here before I’m a sucker for colored vinyl. I’m not very familiar with Blu, but I decided to make the impulse buy after listening to the track above and Blu Collar Workers. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this album so I figure it was worth grabbing. Have yet to listen to the full thing yet, will probably check it out later this evening but it’s pretty good so far. I’m not super big into Blu on the mic, but Exile’s production easily makes up for it, his beats are excellent.
