Fantastic track I originally heard during James Pant’s mix for FACT. The first time I heard this I was for the lack of a better term, “blown away”. Not sure what it is about the rappers and the production for this record, but the combination brings what would be a generic southern rap about money/cars to such a higher level. As JP points out on his old blog, the production on this track really did utilize the Poltergeist Theme to it’s fullest potential.
After looking around online a bit at other stuff Paper Route Gangstaz have done, I found that Mad Decent released a compilation of tracks/remixes from the associated label Paper Route Recordz and that Emynd remixed Wood Grain which can be heard below:
Digging both versions, but I think it’s tough to top that original sample.
